Match Report:

Round 4 was the last time that the Eagles played Blackburn, after a strong start in that game, Blackburn came out strong in the 2nd half and managed to run out 1 point victors.
With captains Seb Malcolm and Nico Koumas leading the boys out onto the ground to line up for Liam Breens 50th game, a tight tussle emerged with both teams quality play shining bright, the Eagles managing to be 2.0 to 1.1 up at quarter time.
The second quarter was one that Blackburn really tested the Eagles, managing to kick 4.1 to 2.0, the boys going into the 1/2 behind on the score sheet for the first time this season.
The half time break was welcomed and the Eagles regrouped in an extremely pleasing manner managing to play great team football, kicking 3.3 to 0.1 to go into the 3/4 time break up 7.3 to 5.3. The boys showed what they were made of and stood up to the challenge placed before them in the 3rd.
A tight final quarter, Blackburn kicking the only goal, and also having plenty of shots kicking another 4 behinds to the Eagles 0.3, a final margin of 5 points in the Eagles favour. Many pleasing aspects in this game, for the first time this season the boys came back from being behind on the scoresheet, holding up to the constant pressure that Balckburn applied and many boys playing their best games for the season.
Congratulations to Liam Breen on playing his 50th game, getting soaked by his team mates during the club song, and to the presidents medal winners, Liam Connelly who played his most consistent game, gaining many touches around the ground and kicking 2 goals, and to Riley McIntyre who once again put in a wonderfully tough performance, tackling hard, defending with courage and providing the start to many forward advances.
